Koppal University was established in 2020 to bring higher education closer to the people of Koppal district. In a short time it has grown into an affiliating, teaching, and research university — building departments, welcoming affiliated colleges, and embracing the NEP 2020 vision for a new generation of students in North Karnataka.
Koppal University is established under the Karnataka State Universities Act to serve the higher-education needs of Koppal district, carved out from the erstwhile parent university.
The university begins postgraduate teaching across its departments and takes charge of affiliating colleges in the district.
Colleges across Koppal district come under the university's affiliation, expanding access to undergraduate education.
Programmes are aligned to the National Education Policy 2020, introducing a flexible, skill-based, choice-based credit curriculum.
Doctoral programmes and research activity expand across the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce & Management, and Social Sciences.
The university serves 25,000+ students through 48 departments and 120+ affiliated colleges, with UGC recognition and NAAC engagement.
